A Never-Ending Journey:
Online Teachers' Program
monthly sessions on teaching meditation and Buddhist practice

Content

Each month, I will meet with interested people to discuss a particular topic. The meetings will take place via computer and the topics will be drawn from three broad areas:

  1. How to teach — various methods of teaching, transmission and instruction, the various kinds of content, traditional and western approaches, etc.
  2. Challenges in the teaching role — identity and image, doubt and insecurity, responsibilities and boundaries, working with internal material, etc.
  3. Practical matters — finding or attracting students, handling or not handling money, community issues, etc.

From time to time, I may invite other teachers or experts in other fields to participate as guests in these sessions.

Who is eligible?

The program is open to people who are already involved in Buddhist teaching, are preparing to teach, are part of a more formal teacher-training program, or just find themselves teaching because that's how things evolved. A minimum five years of consistent practice is required along with the equivalent of at least an accumulated month of retreat experience. The important requirements, however, are that you are:

  • interested in learning how to teach more effectively from both me and from your peers,
  • willing to listen, absorb, and make use of what comes up in discussion,
  • willing to stand in and speak from your own experience,
  • interested in developing strong peer relationships, and
  • able and willing to question your own projections and beliefs.

Costs

For the monthly seminars, I ask you to contribute $25 per seminar. If you are not able to attend, you can still register and receive access to an audio and video recording of the session. Recordings of each session will be made available to those who participate in it.
